The First Meeting of the Digital Language Lab Project was Held


The opening meeting of the Digital Language Lab (DLL) project supported by Bursa Technical University (BTU) within the scope of the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH Program was held. The general roadmap was determined in the first meeting of the project, which will develop educational tools that will enable teachers to be more effective in the digital world.

The opening meeting of the Digital Language Lab (DLL) project supported by the Turkish National Agency and the European Commission and coordinated by Bursa Technical University (BTU) was held. The meeting, which took place in the Turkuaz Hall of the Mimar Sinan Campus, was attended by BTU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Beyhan Bayhan and Prof. Dr. Barış Tamer Tonguç, participants from project partners Scuola Superiore Carolina Albasio (Italy), El Divino Pastor School (Spain), Education Mobility Grid GbR Education Consultancy (Germany), Liceum Ogólnokształcące Umiejętności Twórczych (Poland) and International Continuing Education and Development Association – USEGED (Turkey) and BTU academicians attended. Speaking at the meeting, BTU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Beyhan Bayhan emphasized the importance BTU gives to international projects such as Erasmus. Stating that BTU is a young and dynamic university aiming for excellence in the fields of science, technology, engineering and language education, Vice Rector Bayhan stated that the structure of the Digital Language Lab project, which encourages innovation and digitalization, is perfectly in line with the university’s mission. He also stated that this project will play an important role in developing teachers’ digital skills and offering innovative approaches in language education.

Work Packages, Task Distributions, Implementation Processes…

BTU Foreign Languages ​​School Lecturer Özlem Cengiz, who explained the main objectives and expected outputs of the project, introduced the project team. The project partners stated that they aimed to develop innovative approaches for the effective use of digital tools in foreign language education. BTU academics also expressed their interest and support for the project. The meeting continued with the details of the work packages, task distributions and implementation processes, and the determination of the road map of the project. After the opening meeting, the partners clarified the steps to be taken during the project process and started working for effective cooperation.

What is the Digital Language Lab Project?

Digital Language Lab, which will last for 30 months and has a grant support of 250 thousand Euros, aims to develop teachers’ digital skills and increase cooperation in the field of language education. Within the scope of the project, an innovative online platform that supports foreign language education with Web 2.0 tools will be developed. DLL aims to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions in Europe in the field of digitalization and language teaching, and the outputs to be obtained will be designed to be accessible to all educators. The project team, which focuses on developing educational materials and tools that will enable teachers to be more effective in the digital world, includes Lecturer Özlem Cengiz from BTÜ School of Foreign Languages, Lecturer Elif Atalı, and Lecturer Ali Kılıç from the Foreign Relations Office.
